B.C. to regulate lenders of high-cost credit products

Beginning May 1, 2022, annual licensing and regulation for products such as installment loans and high interest (32%+) lines of credit will be required. Changes have also been made to transparency requirements and borrower protections. The new framework will be administered by Consumer Protection BC. More information is available here.

Quebec minimum wage jumps to $14.25/hour

Effective Sunday, May 1, 2022, the minimum wage in Quebec has risen to $14.25 an hour – up 75 cents from $13.50. The province follows the neighbouring Maritime provinces and Ontario, which raised their minimum wages in April. To see national numbers, click here.
